Hajj 2026: Official Dates and Schedule

In 2026, the spiritual journey of a lifetime is defined by historic efficiency. As of March 10, 2026, the Saudi Ministry of Hajj and Umrah has already activated the primary phase of the 1447 AH season. Visa issuances are currently underway for pilgrims worldwide, marking the earliest start in the Kingdom’s history.

Here is the essential schedule and guide for the upcoming season.

Official Hajj 2026 Dates

The dates for Hajj follow the lunar Islamic calendar. For 2026 (1447 AH), the rituals are expected to take place from late May through the end of the month.

  • May 25 (8 Dhul Hijjah): Tarwiyah Day. Pilgrims move to the city of Mina to begin the journey.
  • May 26 (9 Dhul Hijjah): Day of Arafah. This is the pinnacle of Hajj where pilgrims stand on Mount Arafah in prayer from noon until sunset.
  • May 27 (10 Dhul Hijjah): Eid al Adha. This day includes the sacrifice, the first stoning of the Jamarat, and the Tawaf al Ifadah in Makkah.
  • May 28 to May 30 (11 to 13 Dhul Hijjah): Days of Tashreeq. Pilgrims continue the ritual stoning of the pillars in Mina before completing the farewell circumambulation.

Please note that these dates are subject to the official sighting of the Dhul Hijjah crescent moon in Saudi Arabia.

The 2026 Operational Timeline

Saudi Arabia has implemented an early preparation model for 2026 to ensure smoother logistics and better crowd management for the millions in attendance.

  • Visa Issuance: The Ministry began printing visas on February 8, 2026. This accelerated timeline is part of the Vision 2030 goal to digitize all pilgrimage logistics.
  • Pilgrim Arrivals: The first international flights are scheduled to land in the Kingdom starting April 18, 2026.
  • Final Flight Entry: The last day for international Hajj flights to land at King Abdulaziz International Airport in Jeddah is tentatively set for May 21, 2026.

The 2026 Tech Upgrade: Smart Watches and Nusuk

Performing Hajj in 2026 involves more technology than ever before to enhance safety. One of the major updates for this year is the introduction of the Hajj Suvidha Smart Watch. These devices are being distributed to help pilgrims navigate the holy sites more easily.

The watches feature built-in GPS for location tracking, an SOS button for emergencies, and automated prayer time alerts. They also monitor basic health parameters like heart rate and oxygen levels. All pilgrims are also required to carry their Digital Nusuk Card on their smartphones. This serves as your primary identity and is essential for accessing transport and entering tent zones in Mina and Arafat.

2026 Health and Travel Requirements

Authorities have emphasized that pilgrims must be physically fit for the journey. With warmer temperatures expected during the May 2026 window, a consistent walking regimen is highly recommended to prepare for the physical demands of the rituals.

You must provide proof of the Meningococcal vaccine and the updated COVID 19 vaccination for the 2025/2026 season. Domestic pilgrims in Saudi Arabia must complete their package payments through the SADAD system within strict 72 hour windows to avoid automatic cancellation of their bookings.

“Hajj in 2026 is a blend of ancient devotion and future ready logistics. The goal is to ensure every pilgrim can focus on their spiritual connection while modern technology handles the complexities of the world’s largest gathering.”
